You don't need news. If there is something important you need to know then everyone around you will be talking about it.

If for some reason you feel you need reading material that connects with the wider world, I recommend just subscribing to a couple of substacks that have regular interesting essays - the impact of the Zeitgeist will permeate them somehow or other, but at least you will get interesting takes on it.
