New Moon (Solar Eclipse) in Taurus Mundane Chart
I should note that John Michael Greer covered this eclipse (undoubtedly in better detail and with better accuracy) on his Patreon and Subscribestar pages; I didn’t reference his breakdown while I cast my chart but I did read it when he published it. If you are interested in mundane astrology, of course, I recommend you check his work out if you haven’t already. Without further ado...
The first house of the common people has Virgo on the cusp and is ruled by Mercury. Mercury is in Gemini, the sign of his rulership, and is also sextile Venus, which puts him in fairly good condition, although he is weakened a bit by his placement in the cadent 9th house. I expect lively debates, perhaps not all negative, during the time frame of this chart.
The second house of national finances has Libra on the cusp and is ruled by Venus. Venus is in her exaltation in Pisces and is conjunct Jupiter, which is beneficial, and also conjunct Neptune, which is an affliction in Mundane astrology. She is also sextile Mercury. She is weakened a little by her placement in the cadent 6th house.
My tentative prediction for the second house is that some expansive (Jupiter) form of relief will be offered to the struggling nation, something that may benefit women (Venus) and be targeted in some sort of “social justice” (Libra) fashion. This may not be as helpful as intended (Neptune). The Progressives are pushing student loan relief; the struggling Biden administration may try to curry favor by carrying this out through Executive order.
.
The third house of communication, publishing, and the internet has Scorpio on the cusp and is ruled by Mars. Mars is sextile both the Sun and Moon, which strengthens him but afflicts them. His placement in the cadent 6th house weakens him a bit though.
This is pretty speculative, but with Mars ruling this house and Scorpio on the cusp, I wouldn’t be shocked to see some more damaging revelations about Joe Biden and the political classes this month. My prediction of a cyber attack last month fizzled, but with Mars ruling the third, I’m going to toss that possibility out there again this month (eventually I almost have to be right, right??).
This could also indicate information warfare, but since that’s been the norm for at least a few years now, that isn’t a very bold prediction.
The fourth house of the opposition party and rural areas has Sagittarius on the cusp and is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter is in the cadent sixth house, a weak position, but he is also conjunct Venus, which is a favorable aspect. Some sort of benefit may come to the out-of-power Republican party and to rural areas this month, perhaps related to the second house predictions above.
The fifth house of entertainment and the Senate has Aquarius on the cusp and is ruled by Uranus. Uranus is in his fall in Taurus and is conjunct both the Sun and Moon in the 8th house. He is also sextile Mars. Looking at the 8th house, one may reasonably speculate that there may be some deaths or illnesses inflicting Senators or prominent people in the entertainment industry.
Saturn is located in the 5th house, which is bad for theater and amusements. This could be related to the big Disney kerfuffle in Florida and foretells other Hollywood failures and flops. If Saturn was seriously afflicted, this placement would be much more ominous.
The sixth house of public health has Pisces on the cusp and is ruled by Neptune. Malefic Neptune is in the sign of his rulership and is (a bit loosely) conjunct Venus, giving him some strength despite his placement here in the cadent 6th house.
There are four planets here in the 6th house, I’ll tackle them one at a time.
Venus in the 6th can indicate prosperity for the working classes (again, this may relate to the second house predictions above).
Mars in the 6th house can indicate a focus on the military. It can also be a sign of a pandemic or plague (despite the lack of focus of most of the nation on Covid, it is still a going concern in many areas).
Jupiter is here in the sixth house, which Green notes is not a strong placement for Jupiter. It does foretell some sort of prosperity for the nation’s workers.
Finally, Neptune is here in the 6th, which can indicate naval action (and discontent amongst workers).
With this much activity in the 6th, it’s hard to nail down specific predictions. I’m wondering if there could be some kind of naval engagement (Mars and Neptune in the 6th), which would be a worrisome development. There could also potentially be an outbreak of some type of illness that affects our armed forces.
I’ll also note that, as vaccine uptake has been lagging in rural areas but extremely common elsewhere, people who are anticipating widespread vaccine side effects might look at this chart and speculate that they may start being more of a factor in the nation’s military life; this may also explain why the workforce seems to be a bit shielded from some of these events as indicated by some of the other factors in the chart. Since I have my own suspicions about all of that and it probably biases me to see those indicators in the chart, let the record show that the astrologer is not making fully neutral predictions this month.
The seventh house of foreign affairs has Pisces on the cusp and is ruled by Neptune, whose condition was detailed above. The planet of delusion is here in the house of foreign affairs. Neptune’s main aspect is his conjunction with Venus; the optimist in me hopes that this may be an indicator that there will be some sort of peaceful overtures regarding the situation in Ukraine, but I’m not really sure how this will play out; the indicators in the 6th house aren’t very promising.
The eighth house of death and foreign money has Aries on the cusp and is ruled by Mars. Mars is weakly placed in the cadent 6th house, but is sextile the Sun and Moon, giving him some strength. He’s also sextile malefic Uranus.
The new moon, and solar eclipse, occurs here in the 8th house. This can portend the death of someone in the executive or legislative branch. The Sun in the 8th house can indicate sickness and death of powerful people and in the upper classes. The Sun is also conjunct Uranus, which can also indicate sudden, unexpected troubles and false steps. Needless to say, given that we have a bumbling incompetent in the White House during a series of cascading crises, these are not good signs for the country.
The Moon is exalted here in Taurus, but is also afflicted by conjunction with Uranus, which is bad for the government, which will be the target of hostility and unpopularity. The moon afflicted in the 8th can indicate the deaths of children and women, epidemics, and general high mortality. Since this is an eclipse chart, which in mundane astrology always spells trouble, this is pretty concerning.
Uranus is here in the 8th house, which portends sudden and unexpected deaths. Honestly, if I hadn’t seen more modest results in my charts than I have since I’ve been doing them, I’d be battening down the hatches at this point. Conjunct the Sun and Moon and sextile Mars, Uranus is strong and I get the impression he’s going to be really malefic in this chart.
The ninth house of the judiciary and higher education has Taurus on the cusp and is ruled by Venus. Venus, again, is exalted in Pisces and conjunct Jupiter, but is also conjunct Neptune. Here again, I am speculating that some sort of student debt relief may be forthcoming. There may also be court rulings that impact women and women’s concerns in some fashion.
Mercury is in the ninth house, in his rulership in Gemini. This can foretell messengers to foreign countries (maybe they will send Kamala to Europe again, as Venus is ruling in this house and the two planets are forming a sextile).
The tenth house of the executive branch has Gemini on the cusp and is ruled by Mercury. As mentioned above Mercury’s condition is fair in this chart. The executive branch may have a bit more success with messaging, and the press is likely to continue covering for the executive branch’s many missteps and unforced errors.
One might speculate quite a bit about the implications of the Sun being eclipsed in the 8th house and how it will affect the executive branch during the time governed by this chart; it appears the executive branch may have some success (with messaging at least) despite whatever may occur.
The eleventh house of the lower legislative branch has Leo on the cusp and is ruled by the Sun. The Sun is eclipsed in the house of death and foreign money. The eleventh house is likely to face significant challenges, to say the least.
The twelfth house of institutions has Virgo on the cusp and is ruled by Mercury. Mercury is in decent condition; there may be communications and debates about twelfth house issues.
Overall, this chart is extremely malefic for the head of state and the cultural elites, while being (possibly, somewhat) less malefic for the working classes. The possibility of some sort of naval incident or engagement is something I’m keeping a close eye on, and the possibility of Presidential succession being a factor due to the death or impeachment of the chief executive is also something that may be portended by this chart. With that said, I've learned to be a bit more moderate with my New Moon chart predictions, so this chart may end up being more muted and less dire than it seems. Since it is an eclipse chart, though... I guess we will see next month!
