Tyranny

I've discovered that people are actually all right with tyranny, as long as the tribe they identify with is imposing it on their political enemies. The same leftists who protested the Patriot Act, for example, are perfectly content to take away the rights of their "enemies" because they feel they are less than human and deserve it. After all, we are stupid, unclean, selfish, and don't know what is in our own best interests... Which is the same dehumanizing rhetoric that's been used on various out-groups since time immemorial.

A lot of Americans wondered how Germans ended up being okay with concentration camps and mass murder. It was probably a lot like this.
