As it is the day of the New Moon, I’m going to revisit my January New Moon chart and see how my predictions went. The biggest prediction that I made, which was that the vaccine mandates would be upheld, was mixed. The most important mandates affecting most of the workers in the country was struck down, while the ones governing many healthcare workers were upheld. I was pretty convinced they’d all be upheld, and I am very grateful that I was wrong on that count.
My original predictions are in italics, and my brief reflections on them are below each section.
The first thing that stands out about this chart is that all of the planets are clustered in one general area. The first planet in the chart is Mars, which is in the seventh house of foreign affairs. This house has Scorpio on the cusp and is ruled by Mars, but Mars is in Sagittarius and is therefore intercepted. He's sextile Saturn, which gives some strength to the government and armed forces. This may relate to some saber rattling directed at the US's foreign enemies, but I don't think there will be major incidents with foreign powers.
I’d say this was more-or less a hit, given the situation that developed with Russia and the Ukraine. It was pretty vague though, and I wonder if a better astrologer could have sussed out the specifics of the situation.
The next thing that jumps out is the number of planets in the ninth house of the judiciary. We have four planets in this house, which indicates a big focus on 9th house affairs. As I mentioned above, I think this will relate to the mandates. The 9th house in this chart is ruled by Saturn, which is well placed in the 10th house, but strongly afflicted by a square with Uranus (the effects of this square will be explored later in the chart).
I’d say this was another hit, as the case against the mandates was heard and Justice Breyer announced he’d be retiring, setting Joe Biden up to choose a replacement.
The Sun is in Capricorn in the 9th house. The Sun, which represents the Executive Branch, is well aspected in the 9th house and is traditionally strong here. As this is a New Moon chart, the Sun is conjunct the Moon, meaning there will be a national focus on the events related to this house. The Sun is trine Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is in awful shape but in positive aspect with the Sun it can indicate some success for the Executive (Joe Biden).
Biden’s mandates were not completely struck down, as the one for health-care workers who work for Medicare and Medicaid funded companies was upheld. On this issue, Biden had some small amount of success.
The Moon is in the 9th House, which indicates that the courts will be dealing with cases affecting workers (this seems pretty on-the-nose, bear in mind I pulled it straight out of a manual published in 1911). Like the Sun, the moon is trine Uranus, which strengthens government efforts at reform.
Not much to add here.
Mercury is in the 9th, where he is intercepted in Aquarius. This indicates the law courts will be active. His fairly poor condition may indicate employees in travel and shipping may suffer from discontent.
I don’t know if truckers are happy down here, but they sure seem to have something to say up North! Go Canadian Truckers! Since this isn’t a Canadian chart, though… I dunno. It probably relates to our continued supply chain crisis, but since I didn’t specify that, I can’t really give myself credit for it.
Venus, who is in her detriment in Capricorn and retrograde (and conjunct Pluto to boot if you take that into account), is in the 9th. This could indicate a scandal involving religion or people related to the law. It will be interesting to see if some kind of scandalous material related to a Supreme Court justice surfaces this month. Venus is given some strength by a sextile to Neptune, which could indicate good news for hospitals or charities.
The only thing I could figure that may relate to this prediction is that someone leaked Breyer’s intent to retire before he was ready to announce it. I don’t know about any particular good news for charities, maybe Venus’s debilitated state made this whole thing a wash. I noticed Ghislane Maxwell was in the news a bit during this month due to her trial, although legacy media didn’t have too much to say about it for some reason…
I don't have information on Pluto in the book I'm using to cast these charts, but it's probably worth mentioning that Pluto is hanging out in the 9th in this chart, conjunct the chart's ruler, Venus. I'm considering whether Pluto may have more of an impact than JMG thinks at this point in time; whether JMG's hypothesis about Pluto's waning power is correct remains to be seen, but I suspect for now he is still exerting influence on earthly affairs. If so, count on his influence to be malefic.
Not much to add here either, although JMG is the man and he’s probably right; he usually is. I’m still giving Pluto some respect in future charts though.
Saturn in this chart is strongly placed in the 10th house, but is seriously afflicted by a square with Uranus in the 12th house of institutions. Saturn in the 10th indicates power for the Executive branch, but it can be power bereft of popularity or public support. The square with Uranus can foretell discord and misfortune in national affairs, trouble for the Executive branch, disturbances in the nation's political life, delay, and reforms resisted. This malefic square has been repeating through all of 2021 and indicates that, while the Biden administration may have it's mandates upheld, it may have consequences that undermine the stability of the entire government.
Reforms resisted kind of sums this up! I think I let my fear of what may happen with the mandates cloud what I was seeing, although again the results were mixed, since some of the mandates held. Generally speaking, with half of the country in favor of impeaching Biden at this point, I’d say the stability of the government is indeed pretty shaky.
Jupiter, the greater benefic, is in the 11th house, intercepted in Pisces. This placement can be good for the passage of legislation, but as Jupiter is intercepted and makes no aspects to any other planets in the chart, it could indicate that the Democrat's legislative agenda remains stalled out to some extent.
Stalled out to some extent sums up the Dem’s legislative agenda pretty well.
Also present in the 11th house is Neptune, who is in his sign of rulership in Pisces but is intercepted in this house, which has Aquarius on the cusp and is ruled by Uranus. Uranus is in bad shape in the house of institutions. Neptune in the 11th could indicate delay in the legislative process; it could be that a more modest version of the "Build Back Better" agenda comes up for debate.
There seems to be a new focus on passing some of Build Back Better in smaller portions, so I’d say this was a hit.
Uranus in this chart is in his fall in Taurus and intercepted in the 12th house of institutions. With Aries on the cusp of the 12th, this house is ruled by Mars. Uranus here can indicate changes and new regulations in hospitals (and workhouses... not sure what the modern American equivalent of a workhouse is). These changes will lead to greater disorder and discontent instead of having a positive effect.
The healthcare mandates were upheld, and a lot of healthcare businesses seem to be suffering from lack of staffing and the like due to mandates, so I’d say this was a hit.
Another thing that is probably worth mentioning is that Leo, ruled by the Sun, is on the cusp of two houses that may be important to consider.
Although there are no planets in the 4th house of the rural hinterlands and the party out of power, Leo is on the cusp and therefore the Sun (executive branch) rules this house, which suggests to me that efforts to check the executive branch by Republicans, and any resistance to the executive from the rural areas, won't be effective at this time. As Leo is also on the cusp of the 5th, which is the House that rules the Senate, the Biden admin may have some success getting the Senate on board with passing some of his agenda.
The Republicans seem content to let the Democrats flop about like fishes out of water. I was dead wrong about the Senate; Biden sure tried to manhandle Sinema and Manchin, but to no avail.
Overall, I’d say my predictions were pretty vague and they missed Breyer resigning, which would have been useful to predict and more unexpected than a lot of the things I called. I give myself a C- this month. I’m going to generate a new moon chart for February and post it tomorrow or Thursday, depending on how long it takes to write it up; hopefully anything earth-shattering will wait a day or two to occur!
