Watching the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, I feel like I should have deep thoughts, feelings, and some kind of analysis of the situation. I'm not sure why this is so; I'm a peasant from the sticks and have only a rudimentary grasp of the situation. When it comes to international affairs and the like, it almost seems mandatory for any serious person to have some kind of opinion, but I'm like Donnie in the film The Big Lebowski; I'm out of my league.
With that said, from the sound of it I'm not the only one. Granted, I don't have a particularly high opinion of our President, his political party, or his positions on much of anything, but I've seen some of his speeches on the situation and they frankly seem a bit incoherent. I remember seeing people in High School make better speeches and presentations than what's coming out of our hapless Commander-in-Thief (err, Chief).
I don't really know if sanctions against Russia are going to be effective, for all I know they are a great strategy and I hope they work. Maybe the White House does have a winning plan and they are handling this situation with aplomb. There are limits to my knowledge. But Joey and his pals don't look particularly strong or coordinated or competent.
It's okay that I'm out of my league regarding foreign policy and military strategy. It's probably not okay that the "Leader of the Free World" seems like he's out of his league, too.
