I used to admire Canada quite a bit, and I thought the country had it together in ways we absolutely did not here in the US.

Same. As a dual-citizen I used to feel superior that I was born in the "better" country & often wished out loud that the US would learn from Canada.

In the past 3 years my husband and I have seriously discussed, many times, the feasibility of moving to the States. We keep coming back to the conclusion of staying in BC, because were born here and it's our home -- but the discussion is perennial.

I was astounded by how crazy Canada got during Covid.

We all were. My mom keeps saying "I can't believe this is happening". People who escaped communist regimes elsewhere have been sounding alarm bells for years now.

And it's still happening, and getting worse. Many Covid things have been rescinded (though in some places, like BC, certain measures remain in place), but now they're sneaking through other things. Bill C-11, which ends any semblance we had at freedom online. Bill C-36, which is a Provincial Bill turning BC into a medical dystopia. The fact that our MAID program (Medical Assistance in Dying) is quickly becoming a way to organ harvest the poor. Our banks aiming to eliminate cash within 5 to 10 years.

It's truly something out of a cyberpunk dystopia, except I can't put the book down when it becomes too scary.

I was pretty inspired by your truckers though!

You and me both! I can't tell you how many people I know who have said the Convoy gave them back their hope and stopped them from self-harm. I know I'm in that camp myself.

If nothing else, it's proof that Canadians are not the passive, apathetic souls we're often seen as when it comes to what's happening in our country.
