It's been a cyberpunk dystopia indeed, hasn't it? I've watched the MAID laws in Canada with great concern (I wrote about it a while back, I hadn't heard about the organ harvesting end of it at the time though; it's positively chilling). It's a small step from the government coercing people into killing themselves to just taking the matter into their own hands and removing the sick and inconvenient of their own accord (in a painless and humane fashion, of course).
I hope people like you, your husband, and the truckers can turn the country around. And I hope we can stop our elites from doing the same thing here; it's obviously the master plan and lots of people seem fine with it as long as they are promised enough free stuff.
