The country has shifted so far politically left that all of its institutions are basically Democrat mouthpieces. It's funny watching a bunch of washed up hacks in the media posture and pretend to be rebellious against the system and entrenched power structures, when they ARE the system and entrenched power structures. A bunch of rockers and comedians and actors who made their fortunes on being rebellious and edgy and sticking it to the proverbial man have become exactly what they used to rail against. They are shrill, preachy, holier-than-thou, and ultimately boring. They simply lack the self-awareness to realize that they won the culture wars through and through. You can't rage against the machine when you are the machine. You can't stick it to the man when you are the man.

Profanity, vulgarity, nudity, and all of the tools that they used to get their message out and break open the conservative culture of the past, are now utterly mainstream. They aren't pushing the envelope anymore, because it's all already been done before. The left has explored the taboo areas of yesteryear, and mainstreamed those "violations" in the public arena. The old Victorian sexual taboos have been shredded (and seemingly replaced by equally insane taboos about death... Eros and Thanatos have perhaps swapped places).

Having grown up in a time when many of the "shocking" acts of the seventies and eighties were already socially acceptable to the masses, I suppose I never really had an appreciation of how hated and feared a lot of the more transgressive artists of the time were to the cultural elites of the time. Now that I am truly outside the mainstream, I can see what it is like to be outside the cultural norms of the times. It's scary out here, because the enemy really does have all of the cultural and political power.

I grew up in a small city in the Midwest, where the local power structures were basically conservative and I was socially liberal. At the time, I was opposed to the conservatives' rigidity and conformity. I was against their desire to censor people who didn't agree with them. I was against their hypocrisy. I was against their desire to control others and make them conform to an ideology I found unacceptable. I was for freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom for people to live the lives they want in the way that they see fit.

I am opposed to the Democrat regime's rigidity and conformity. I am against their desire to censor people who don't agree with them. I am against their hypocrisy. I am against their desire to control others and make them conform to an ideology I find unacceptable. I am for freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom for people to live the lives they want in the way that they see fit.

The new Regime mouthpieces can kiss my ass.
